The Flood Alert System has been utilized during many small and large storm events. Summaries of selected events are listed here.

  • Tropical Storm Allison hit during June of 2001, causing massive flooding across the Houston Area. We have prepared a summary of the event, along with some of the images that the Flood Alert System produced during Allison.

  • Tropical Storm Frances hit on September 11, 1998. While TS Frances caused significant street flooding in the Rice/TMC area, and made access to the TMC difficult or impossible for several hours, there was no serious property damage in the Rice/TMC area. Other parts of Houston had as much as 15 inches of rainfall during the peak 8-12 hours of the storm, causing flooding along Buffalo and White Oak bayous.
