The Flood Alert System has been utilized during many small and large storm events. Summaries of selected events are listed here.
Tropical Storm Allison hit during June of 2001, causing massive flooding across the Houston Area. We have prepared a summary of the event, along with some of the images that the Flood Alert System produced during Allison.
Tropical Storm Frances hit on September 11, 1998. While TS Frances caused significant street flooding in the Rice/TMC area, and made access to the TMC difficult or impossible for several hours, there was no serious property damage in the Rice/TMC area. Other parts of Houston had as much as 15 inches of rainfall during the peak 8-12 hours of the storm, causing flooding along Buffalo and White Oak bayous.
